London Fashion Week: Gyal Dem in Hats

We've said it before and we'll say it again; Nasir's shows are definitely the dopest environment to be in at LFW.

The vibe was a little bit overshadowed by the fact that they were ushering all the annoying twee Vogue cunts from the end of the Richard Nicoll show through Nasir's presentation. Seeing all these girls cowering in fear at the extremely loud Lil' Kim soundtrack and angry-looking council estate people from the future was hilarious though.

As always, the styling and casting were all good-looking rudeboys and gyal dem. The clothes were a mix of super sexy clothes for the girls and gully streetwear for the boys.

As for the accessories, they, of course, were heavy.

This is Nasir.

Nasir's show takes you to another world, and then another and another. There's the whole street vibe with the music and the guy models, but then he has these girls like the pink teddybear tiger girl, who has this ridiculous ethereal, futuristic Thundercats look. A lot of people are going to get very rich ripping this guy off.
Summary: Having your pencil behind your ear is in.

Nasir is the one designer for me, who consistently creates a whole world around his collections and presentations. He is 100% decisive about what he is producing and has an incredibly clear vision of what he is creating. Whilst London Fashion Week is still a great place to scout the odd young designer I feel that talents like Nasir's are under-represented on the main schedule of shows. London doesn't compare to the other 3 major fashion weeks in terms of big names or major investment but I still feel London tries to compete on that front whereas really, the BFC should be making designers like Nasir, the focus of what LFW is about. Looking at the schedule, very little in London is as exciting as it should be. Not to say that great young designers aren't finding a way to show their collections; just it would be great if things were switched. Nasir sums up what is good about fashion coming out of this country.

After some years slaving away in fashion under the wings of some famous, formidable Kiwi bird, I'd rather hang out in the cafe for outpatients at the local secure psychiatric unit than attend a fashion show.. I'd rather discuss laxative abuse than latex BUT... I'm following your LFW coverage on ViceStyle eagerly, it seems to take off where The Face deserted us and is genuinely interesting and entertaining. Well done.

Nasir Mazhar is genuinely the most exciting thing in London. The presentation felt like no show I had ever seen in real life or in video. It had a vibe to it that genuinely represented London. I believe this is the best thing on the LFW schedule.
