HOT YOUNG NEW DESIGNERS: ELLIOT WARD-FEAR

Over the next couple of weeks, we're going to be talking to some of the world's hottest new fashion designers. Well, the designers themselves are not necessarily all that hot, but their garms are shit-hot. Here is the first instalment, Elliot Ward-Fear, from Australia.

21-year-old womenswear designer, Elliot Curtis Ward-Fear, hails from down-under and seems to be obsessed with designing clothes with easy-access bumholes. Some of his designs look good enough to eat.

Vice: So tell us what it is you're doing that's new and different?
Elliot Ward-Fear: Sexuality a strong sense of sensuality and extreme femininity are always key. I like to challenge people's preconceived ideas of what’s saleable.

Do you ever get fed up the whole fashion thing?
Yes, of course, when things get a little tough. But then I remind myself that I don’t have to be doing what I’m doing, or worse - I could be working the deep-fat fryer at KFC! I chose to do this, so I’m going to stick it out and when times get tough, suck it up. When I make clothes I’m constantly reminded about just how much damn fun I'm having!

What turns you on?
French Art Nouveau Ballet Russes posters, Nouveau advertising - Art Nouveau, in general. Sex and tattooed guys in their underpants. More appropriately - life. LIFE turns me on!

You managed to make the heart-shaped bumhole trousers tread the line between trashy and totally radical at the same time.
I just say to myself, "keeping pushing forward". I know my mind runs off in every direction and I need to hone my ability to pull back, but I really enjoy treading such a fine line.
