NYFW: ZIPS
Who: Alexandre Herchcovitch pushes design, but not too hard. I guess not every collection needs to be a total headfuck.
What: Thick metallic and neutral-toned leathers emphasized dress construction, with oversized pockets, exposed zippers, and what looked like plaid linings and ironed lace petticoats along the outsides. The chunky gold shoes will undoubtedly catch on, but the show’s most ambitious pairing–a stuffed yellow nylon and a stiff, tiered lace–was harder to grasp.
How: The soundtrack was Kate Bush’s “Babooshka,” an obvious, but probably fail-proof choice.
Vibe: Thick metallic and neutral-toned leathers emphasized dress construction, with oversized pockets, exposed zippers, what looked like plaid linings and ironed lace petticoats along the outsides and chunky gold shoes is in.
