NYFW: METALLIC GOTH
Who: Sally LaPointe is a young, sexy designer who makes dresses that weird popstars wear when they're not being weird.
What: My favorite piece was a satin mini, mini, mini-dress with a midriff-baring cutout, which perfectly sums up with that amazing metallic goth look that LaPointe does so well. If you want an example of what I'm talking about, the whole collection reminded me of Sharon Needles from RuPaul's Drag Race, in the best way possible. Does this mean that 90s staple the midriff is back?
How: Getting stuck walking behind a group of fashion week-goers in New York is like driving a car behind an Amish horse and cart on a country road. You can't get mad that they're slowing you down because you don’t want to be early anyway, but their clopping hooves and flickering furs are unnerving because they're so fragile compared to your hard metal shell. The drag queens and hairdressers at Sally LaPointe move really slowly.
Vibe: The midriff is in.
