NYFW: MILK STUDIOS
Who: The Milk Studios' afterparty was Las Vegas wedding-themed, which was a perfect fit because the night was pretty awkward and the VIP was sort of D-list.
What: Wu-Tang performed, which was definitely cool, except it was right after model turned singer-songwriter Lissie Trulie played, which wasn't nearly as cool. The whole thing was introduced by this white girl with prison tattoos who was dressed like a bride. I think she’s sort of famous.
How: The Wu-Tang Clan seemed mad because the audience wasn’t making enough noise and providing the Wu with "the energy that they needed to give their energy back to us", but what did they expect? This was at the end of a busy NYFW day and we were all wearing painful shoes and silk under leather under more leather, which isn't exactly conducive to going off at a rap show. The night was a bit like that part of a wedding that suddenly becomes all fratty and slutty once everyone has had enough to drink. Eventually that subsided and it all turned bitchy because Raekwon kept spraying all the models and socialites with beer.
Vibe: The lyric—"take a free ride on my thought, I got the fashion catalogs for all y'all to all praise to the Gods"—from Cappadonna's verse on "Triumph", is in.
