LFW: THE SEA
Who: Super luxury, i.e expensive gothic glamor got an update in Charlie May’s second collection. She sews every single thing herself, which is awesome. May also describes herself as a “bit of a texture freak”.
What: May reckoned she was inspired by the “strong loneliness and isolation of the sea”. Er, OK, she explains she was drawn to oversized cuts to capture the sensation of drowning. Something we can all agree that everyone looks for in a piece of clothing. These are definitely not your traditional oversized shapes, as the silks used in the collection were tailored close to the body and often punctuated by a collar or sleeve cuffs.
How: Yet another open bar, which is weirdly a totally dominant trend at the shows now.
Vibe: Drowning is in.
